Structure and Membership

NASH Australia was formed in 1982 as a not-for-profit organisation and is registered as an Incorporated Association.

NASH in New Zealand is an affiliated chapter of NASH Australia and was established at the beginning of 1995. NASH New Zealand is also a not-for-profit organization and registered as an incorporated society. NASH New Zealand has an elected board elected from members and has a full time General Manager who manages the day to day activities of the association.

NASH activities are steered by the NASH Business Plan.

NASH in Australia has five State Chapters (New South Wales, Victoria/Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia/Northern Territory and Western Australia) and Regional Branches or Divisions of Chapters. Organisations or individuals join their local Chapter and elect Chapter Chairpersons to represent them on the National Council.

The National Council comprises the elected Chairpersons of each regional Chapter, the Immediate Past President, Invited Sponsor Councillors.

In New Zealand anyone can apply to become a member of NASH by completing an application form and returning this to the NASH Auckland Office. (download application form).

There are five categories for membership of NASH in New Zealand.

Ordinary

Open to persons, firms and corporations actively engaged in one or more of the following:

  1. the manufacture, fabrication or installation of steel-framed housing components or assemblies for use in steel-framed housing
  2. the supply of steel coil or sheet used in the manufacture of steel-framed housing components
  3. the supply and\or installation of ancillary materials used in the construction of steel framed housing

Professional

Professional membership is for consultants and professionals involved in the design and advice on steel-framed housing.

Associate

Associate members are persons or organizations who are recognized by the association as making a significant contribution to the affairs of the industry. Associate members are not eligible to vote at association meetings.

Trainee

Trainee members are persons who are engaged in the study of steel frame housing. Trainee members are not eligible to vote at association meetings.

Sponsoring

Sponsoring members are significant sponsors of the association’s activities. The level of sponsorship required to meet this membership criteria is set by the Board.
